Our Story
We are seven (7) towns in Downeast Maine who are working toward the future for the survivability and the success of our communities. That success relies on bettering what is available to attract and retain people who are willing and able to stay and move here to live and to work. One of those key elements in facilitating that is Broadband.
We are the oldest state by age of our population and virtually last in Broadband access. Our goal is to help to better that ranking - which no one should be proud of!
A group of people came together with common interest - yet diverse backgrounds. We met several times in varying venues, but with a common interest - bettering where we live. We hope that you will support our interests and efforts as well as reach out to help as you can. We will need it.
Towns like ours in Maine are moving forward and how they do that differ immensely. There are good and bad efforts and outcomes, yet we all learn from every one of them as long as they are willing to talk. We seek to make sure that our communities learn from others, don't reinvent the wheel and have an outcome that satisfies the majority. Nothing is perfect but we want to work out the bumps in the system. As you will see, our involvement in local, state and national forums will help to make those bumps just a part of the road to the future.
